Our annual bird identification workshop in preparation for the Christmas Bird Count and fall drawing will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the Davis Waste Removal Conference Room at 2727 2nd St at 7:30 PM. Come early at 7 PM for refreshments. This year’s Grand Prize is a signed and numbered print of “The Burrowing Owl” by renowned wildlife artist, Robert Bateman. As in the past several years, the Mill Pond Press of Venice, Florida has graciously donated the print. The Abreu Gallery of Sacramento has generously donated the frame and framing.

In addition to the “The Burrowing Owl” print, other great prizes will
include framed prints of native Hawaiian birds, including a Nene and ‘Elepaio, a poster of the “I“iwi, hummingbird books, wildlife art, bird feeders and seed, beer baskets, wine, field guides, books, and other interesting items.

Tickets are available from fundraising chair Rick Meredith at 916-739-1635 or rmeredith@comcast.net The suggested donation is $2 per ticket. You need not be present to win the grand prize; however, we also will be offering prizes exclusive to those attending the Bird Identification Workshop.

The proceeds form this year’s drawing will be used to fund our environmental education and conservation activities, as well as defray costs of our operating expenses.
