Putah Creek Christmas Bird Count Circle

Location: 15-mile diameter circle centered southwest of
Winters, California, spanning parts of Yolo, Solano, and Napa Counties

Organization: The count circle is divided into 10 areas,
each with an Area Leader that manages coverage. Coverage varies from
off-trail canyon hiking to boat to car.

Compilation dinner: The potluck to share stories and
numbers will be held the evening of the count at the Davis Waste Removal Conference Room at 2727 2nd St. in Davis. Festivities start when it gets dark.

  2. Attend the December 6 Bird Identification Workshop meeting of the Yolo Audubon Society.
  3. Contact one of the Area Leaders directly.

Area Information

Area 1 Lake Berryessa & Thompson Canyon & Quail Ridge
Coverage is by foot and sometimes boat; habitat mostly oak/gray pine,
chaparral, and ponds/reservoirs. Area leader is Ron Melcer,

Area 2 Bray Canyon
Coverage is by foot; habitat mostly oak/gray pine.

Area 3 North Side (Chickahominy Slough)
Coverage is by car; habitat mostly fields and riparian.

Area 4 Winters to Monticello Dam
Coverage is by foot; habitat mostly fields, riparian, and residential.

Coverage is by foot and car; habitat mostly riparian and orchards.
