  • October Speaker:
    Jack Laws

Our October speaker, John Muir Laws, has been a lifelong naturalist. Over many years Jack has kept illustrated field journals, and eventually he embarked on an ambitious project to create a fully illustrated guide to Sierra Nevada natural history. The Laws Field Guide to the Sierra Nevada is now in local bookstores and at The Naturalist in Davis. The 2,710 original watercolor illustrations cover fauna from insects up through mammals and flora from fungi through flowers to trees. The beautiful pages are full of intriguing facts and observations.

He is a dynamic speaker and involved in nature education. Come, and bring a friend or two, and if you have the book already, he’ll be happy to autograph it. The meeting in the Club Room of the Veterans Memorial in Davis will start at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, October 17th. Come a little early for cookies and conversation.
