Burrowing owl

    Capay Valley to Blue Ridge

    Field Trip

  • Date: 09/13/2007
  • Time: 07:00:00 AM
  • We’ll get an
early start; drive out to the northwest corner of Yolo County through the scenic
Capay Valley. Driving along Hwy 16 there are a number of roads that lead off to
the left and right which we’ll explore. The timing is the transition from summer
to autumn, birds may surprise us. Most recently Greater Roadrunner and Eurasian
Collared-Dove have been seen. We’ll go up to Blue Ridge via Rayhouse Road where
Lawrence?s Goldfinch are often seen at Fiske Lake and residents such as
California Thrasher, Wrentit and Fox Sparrow should be found.
    Meet at the Park
and Ride lot off Mace Boulevard (NE of Hwy 80; behind Ikeda’s) in Davis at 7:00
am. Bring water, snacks, lunch and hiking shoes. All levels of birder welcome,
some binoculars will be available. We’ll plan on returning by early afternoon.
Trip leader is Sami LaRocca, (530) 908-0288 (cell). NOTE: High winds or a
    significant rainstorm cancels this trip.
