    Dispatches from an Accidental Videographer

    Program

  • Date: 09/15/2010
  • Time: 07:30:00 PM
  • Like many birders, about 10 years ago Chris began digiscoping (using a digital
camera through a spotting scope) to document rare or interesting
birds. While scopes continue to get more expensive, though they haven’t changed much
in the past decade, small digital cameras continue to get better and cheaper,
and now have excellent video and sound recording capabilities. Not a techie
by nature, Chris will briefly describe his simple video techniques and show
a lot of short videos, most with sound, from recent trips to Australia and Alaska,
as well as interesting birds (and other animals) and behavior from the Sacramento area.

Chris Conard is a Natural Resource Specialist at the Bufferlands of the
Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District. He regularly leads field
trips for Sacramento Audubon, serves as the Sacramento County editor for
North American Birds and is a Central Valley Bird Club Board Member.
We’ll be meeting Wednesday, September 15th, at the Davis Senior Citizens
Center, 646 A Street. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm, but come early for
    cookies and conversation.
