    Point Reyes

    Field Trip

  • Date: 05/15/2010
  • Time: 06:00:00 AM
  • Terry Colborn will lead birders on a “big day” chase from Davis to Marin County and Point Reyes in search of spring migrants. This all-day field trip will use the new edition of the Point Reyes National Seashore checklist; it includes over 120 breeding species. Many resident and migrants species will be nesting and/or on territory, including woodpeckers, flycatchers, swallows, Swainson’s Thrush, warblers and Black-headed Grosbeak to name just a few. The group will visit numerous birding spots including Bolinas Lagoon, Bear Valley, Limantour Road, Olema Marsh, Tomales Bay State Park (fee), Five Brooks Pond and various locales in Point Reyes National Seashore.

The trip is limited to 15 people. This will be an all-day field trip, departing from Davis at 6:00am returning after dark. Those interested in signing up for the field trip should contact Terry at: tlcgdc@aol.com for more details, and to reserve their space. Carpooling is encouraged; participants will need to bring binoculars, lunch, liquids and snacks. A jacket is recommended, as the coastal areas can sometimes be cool and breezy.
