  • Date: 12/07/2009
  • Time: 07:30:00 AM
  • In Solano County off Pleasants Valley Road we’ll go up the ridge exploring the oak riparian and chaparral habitats of Vaca Mountains. Along the ridge there is a stand of Black Oak, we may be treated to a golden fall color display. Often seen here during the winter are a variety of hawks and residents such as Bewick’s Wren, Oak Titmouse and Pygmy Owl. Seasonal visitors here include Fox Sparrow, Stellar Jay, Varied Thrush and Band-tailed Pigeon and Golden-crowned Kinglet.
Meet at the Marketplace Shopping Center (near Big 5 Sporting Goods, 1301 W. Covell just east of Hwy 113) at 7:30. We’ll plan on getting back to Davis about 2:00.
All levels of birders are welcome.  Bring water, snacks/lunch and binoculars.
Trip leader is Sami LaRocca, (530) 908-0288 (cell)
