Shorebirds: Champion Migrants

Our speaker for October is Dr. Nils Warnock. He’s done research and field work for many years on the ecology and conservation of Pacific Flyway shorebirds. His emphasis has been on endangered species, migration, and wetlands habitat restoration. He also brings to his research many new angles on studying the finer points of how things work in the world of the birds. Have you ever seen a bird with a solar panel on its back? Our October 21st meeting will again be at the Davis Senior Citizens Center at 7th and A Streets. Start time is 7:30 pm, but come a little early for “cookies and conversa- tion.” Due to a scheduling problem with the City of Davis Facili- ties desk,we’re changing our usual meeting location for the first five meetings. We will be meeting on our usual third Wednesday of the month in October and November, and on the second Wednesday of December at the Davis Senior Citizens Center at 646 A Street in Davis. Our Christmas Bird Count Compilation on December 19th will also be at the Davis Senior Citizens Center. The remaining five meetings will be at our usual location (Veterans Memorial).
